Summary : 1. Differenciate Segureno sheep livestock production in semiextensive system by the use of pastable natural resources: 1.1 Describe the volatile and polyphenolic profiles of grazing plant materials as possible precursors of the differential attributes of Segureno sheep health, welfare, and production quality. 1.2 .- Differenciate the sheep livestock production quality in both annual lambing, considering that animals have grazed on foothill shrubs corresponding to spring/summer lambing- or cereal stubble pasture and legume forage -autumn lambing-. 1.3. Determine the Segureno sheep health and animal welfare improvements induced by semiextensive grazing. 2.- Through the introduction of distillate sage leaves as a functional ingredient to increase the meat quality and to evaluate its effect on animal health and welfare. 3.- Promote semiextensive livestock as a means of agricultural and food production for biodiversity conservation in forests and comprehensive land use. Promote the rural population development and settlement in marginal areas.
