Summary : The aim of this project is to evaluate a group of new cherries cultivars from the Breeding Program of Sweet cherries and picota of the Valle del Jerte, considering agronomic factors and the overall quality parameters. More precisely, this main objective could be summarized in the following ones: (1) To obtain new picotas cultivar keeping the distinctive of the original type of picotas but improving the agronomic characteristics such as size, production yield and optimal ration flesh/pit. (2) To obtain new sweet cherries cultivars type 'Picota'in order to extend the harvesting period with high agronomic and quality standards. The final result will be the selection of those cultivars with the highest overall quality parameters to satisfy the demands of the grower, in terms of agricultural production, the marketer, in terms of storage and distribution, and consumer in on sensory quality, nutrition and health benefits.
