GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
Evaluation of NIRS technology as a strategy for improving decisions at farm level and enhancing production values
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1- Optimization of using portable diode array NIRS sensors for in-situ/in-field quality control of forage and ingredients included in total mixed feeds
2- Optimization of portable diode array NIRS sensors for use on-line at mixer wagon level for implementation in farms and cooperatives for the daily adjustment of feeds.
3- Development and evaluation of cloning algorithms and pretreatment of spectral data for the transfer of existing results on spectral libraries and metadata obtained with laboratory at-line instruments to on-site portable instruments
4- Evaluation of at-line NIRS chemometric models transferred to NIRS portable instruments, for prediction of physicochemical characteristics of forages forming the basis of total mixed feeds for dairy cows.
5- Evaluation of at-line NIRS chemometric models transferred to NIRS portable instruments for prediction of nutritive value and characterization of raw materials forming ingredients of total mixed feeds of dairy cows.
6- Evaluation of at-line NIRS chemometric models transferred to NIRS portable instruments for prediction of undesirable substances in the ingredients of total mixed feeds.
