Abstract : |
The Commission has the mandate to recommend coordinated control programs where considered necessary and on an ad-hoc basis, to assess the prevalence of hazards in feed, food or animals. Coordinated control programs are useful tools to better understand the extent of malpractices or fraudulent practices in a certain sector. They rely on harmonised sampling and methods of analysis to be implemented by all the participating countries, for a limited period, so that the results can be properly evaluated. In the period between 2013 and 2016 the Commission launched three control plans: horse meat, honey and fish substitution. |
