Abstract: A mobile van called ‘Food Safety on Wheels’ has arrived here to examine food quality and prevent adulteration. In view of the rising number of street vendors offering delicious fast food and the need to check food adulteration in the city, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has provided the van to Odisha to test the food standard. The ‘Food Safety on Wheels’ would move in other locations in the State apart from Bhubaneswar within a few days. With the launch of the van, people need not go to any laboratory for quality check; rather, the vehicle would collect the samples of edible oil, milk and other food items from people and immediately provide reports. People can examine food samples at a cost of only Rs 10.
