Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday launched prosecution against 35 businesses operators for selling and manufacturing sub-standard and adulterated food products. Officials told Rising Kashmir that the action was initiated by the Assistant Food Safety Commissioner on various food business operators including spice manufacturers for selling and manufacturing substandard food items.“The legal action was launched against various food outlets for gross violation of Food Safety and Standard Act as they were caught selling low quality and substandard foods,” they said. According to officials, the case will be presented before the Court of Adjudicating Officer, Vikas Kundal who is the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Srinagar. The Food Safety Department has started the fresh crackdown on milk producers and vendors supplying adulterated milk. “In order to crackdown on milk adulteration, the mobile food testing van was put on service to check the quality parameter of milk,” Assistant Commissioner Food Safety in Srinagar, Hilal Ahmad Mir told Rising Kashmir. |
