Tribune News Service Chandigarh, March 3 Under the Mission Tandarust Punjab, the Commisionerate of Food and Drug Administration has conducted nearly 3,000 inspections of food items in the last three months. The department launched 650 cases in the competent court against those indulging in food adulteration. Few cases where the food items were found to be unsafe were launched in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate. During November 2018 to January this year, fine was imposed on 600 food business operators amounting to Rs 65 lakh. Besides, 270 awareness camps were organised to make people aware about the issues related to the adulteration of food. |
