Special teams would be formed with officials from different departments to take up a special drive against adulteration of food items including cooking oil, tea powder, and milk in the district, according to Joint Collector of Nalgonda district C Narayana Reddy on Wednesday. Following several complaints from consumer rights activists on food adulteration at the Meeting of Consumer Protection Council held at the Collectorate, the Joint Collector said there would be zero tolerance towards adulteration of food items. He also announced that a special team with Food Inspector, Sanitary Inspector of Nalgonda Municipality, official of police, Legal Metrology and health department and consumer rights activist to study measures to check adulteration. The team would inspect hotels and shops and come out with an action plan to put an end to the problem. He also directed the District Civil Supplies Officer to provide a vehicle to the team. |
