| Abstract: | The Maharashtra legislature cleared a bill which makes food and drug adulteration, and sale of such products, a cognizable, non-bailable offence with a maximum punishment of life imprisonment. The state government had introduced a bill to amend Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973. It was cleared by the legislative assembly on Thursday. Currently, the offence is bailable, with a maximum jail term of six months. |
