Acting on a tip, a raid was carried out by the Tel Aviv District Food Service, with the participation of the Department of Enforcement & Supervision of the Ministry of Health and the detectives of the Tel Aviv district fraud department of the Israel Police. In the raid at the 5-Star liquor warehouse on 10 Bar Kochba Street in Holon, many boxes of bottles of alcohol suspected of being forged were found due to the absence of production and packaging codes in 200 ml bottles bearing labels “Uncle Smith”, “Moskva”, and “Louis XV ”. Due to the suspicion, the goods were confiscated by the Ministry of Health and samples were taken to test methanol levels in the laboratory. Laboratory tests found that methanol was found to be 20 times higher than the standard for alcoholic beverages and therefore the products would be destroyed by the distribution warehouse under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. |
