Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) food department officials collected samples of loose milk from sellers to check contamination and adulteration in it. Generally loose milk has lot of water and even chemicals in it. An officer of Sumul said milk with less SNF has no nutritional value. More than 85 per cent of milk sold in Surat is that of Sumul whereas unorganized sector sells 80,000 litres of it on a daily basis.“Milk samples from people were taken on road to check adulteration in it. The milk will be banned if solid not fat (SNF) content is found to be less than 8.5 per cent in it. |
