Chandigarh, October 24 Officials in Haryana have stepped up the drive against food adulteration ahead of Diwali, collecting 35 samples in the past two weeks, several of which have tested substandard. In Faridabad, Kurukshetra and Ambala, samples of paneer, khoya and desi ghee, tested at the Public Health Laboratory in Karnal, have failed the food safety standards. In Faridabad, where 17 samples of milk products were found below the prescribed standards, District Food Safety Officer Prithvi Singh said notices had been sent, but “the legal procedure can take up to a year as the accused can opt for a repeat test”. In Kurukshetra, five samples of dairy products collected from Pehowa were found substandard. These were found stacked in a vehicle coming from Zirakpur. |
