Country : Spain
Commodity : All Animal Feed and Food
Summary : General objective: Development of a methodology based on NIRS on-site technology, for inspection, control and management of raw materials and feedstuffs in receiving, storing, processing and distribution sites. Specific objectives. Subproject 1 (SERIDA): 1. To Identify and to establish ranges of relevant parameters (physical, chemical, technological characteristics and undesirable substances) in feed and raw materials for use in animal feed, according to the rules and regulations of market demands. 2. Harmonizing analytical techniques to describe and quantify relevant parameters in controlling risks and fraud in raw materials. 3. Evaluation of measurement systems macro-NIRS to ensure control of mycotoxins as undesirable substances, according to EU legislated and recommended levels for Aflatoxin B1, Ochratoxin, Zearalenone, DON and Fumonisin B1 and B2. Development and evaluation of models. 4. Optimization of standards selection and sizes of macro and micro NIRS (NIR microscopy, mNIRS) spectral libraries for detection and quantification of relevant attributes to control risks and frauds in animal feed. Development and evaluation of models. Specific objectives. Subproject 2 (UCO): 1. Development of a sampling methodology for bulk materials, based on NIRS technology. 2. Evaluation and contrast of portable NIR instruments specifications and utilities for using on-site. 3. Development and validation of a prototype portable NIR instrument to analyze feed and raw materials during storing and transportation. 4. Development of quantitative and qualitative NIRS models for prediction of physical-chemical attributes and undesirable impurities in raw materials and feedstuffs, development of product conformity tests. 5. Development of computer programs for collecting and processing NIRS signal, reporting results and communication protocols for sending spectral information. Common objectives (SERIDA-UCO): 1. Optimization of strategies for cloning and transferring quantitative and qualitative NIRS models between NIR instruments located at line and on-line at laboratory level and on site portable NIRS instruments. 2. Development of working protocols for sending and making decisions on the quality, safety and traceability of animal feeds.
